2024: The Year of the Glimmer at Riverhill
Glimmers are small moments that spark wonder, joy or peace.
We have a Garden full of Glimmers and we would love to share them with you all…
What is a Glimmer?
A Glimmer is a micro-moment of pleasure, contentment or pure fizzing joy. We can find them in our everyday lives, we just have to be open to seeing them.
They can be as simple as a delicious cup of tea, or the smell of wood smoke, or as huge as a sunset or the ocean.
They remind us that there is always hope and help fortify us. They are important reminders of the beauty of life, in a world where it is sometimes easy to forget.
Glimmers are unique and personal to everyone..
How can they help us?
Glimmers can counteract stress by regulating our nervous system. They allow us to ground ourselves firmly in the present when life feels insubstantial and precarious.
They help us to look for the good, and the more you look for something, the more you see. If we train our minds to look for the glimmers we will find them.
Overtime this simple practice can help raise our overall mood and bring us a sense of solace and comfort.
How to find them?
Set a Glimmer intention - the more you look, the more you see.
Go a Glimmer Hunt - Where do you feel most happy and peaceful? That is a great place to a start.
Use all your senses - All five are capable of finding glimmers. Smell in particular can be very powerful, especially with evoking memories.
Start a Glimmer journal - Similar to a gratitude journal, record your glimmers and you might notice a pattern.
Need some Glimsperation to start you off?
Our 2024 Garden leaflet will be full of little glimmers to spot around the gardens - a trail of glimmers in fact.
We wanted to offer our visitors a new way to look at the Gardens, and , hopefully, that will spill out into your everyday lives. Anything that brings more joy and happiness has got to be a good aim for 2024. Look forward to you joining us in March, let’s get glimmering x
